The Balter Bulletin - Tuesday, December 24, 2019 |
Friends,
John Katko and Donald Trump have worked hard to make the economy “great”... for people with power and privilege. Rep. Katko’s campaign contributors and corporate backers have done well thanks to the massive tax giveaway he passed for them. But a truly devastating new report from the Brookings Institution demonstrates what the economy is really like for the rest of us.
The study found that low-wage workers -- those earning under $16.03/hour -- now make up a staggering 44% of American workers ages 18-64. That is 53 million Americans who are living paycheck to paycheck, with little to no mobility, and struggling to break cycles of generational poverty. With astronomical costs of education, healthcare, and raising a family, this situation is beyond unsustainable.
This holiday season, I am recommitting to fight for these hard-working Americans, and for everyone who has been left out and left behind for too long.

A Slate of Endorsements |
I’m so honored to have the endorsements of 16 current and former local elected leaders from each of the 4 counties in NY-24. Together, we are going to put government and power in the hands of the people where they belong!
I’m also incredibly grateful and excited to share that I've received the endorsement of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which has 97 members in Congress.
Since taking back the House in 2018, progressives in Congress have introduced and passed meaningful legislation on critical issues facing working families. On getting big money out of politics, lowering the cost of prescription drugs, strengthening Social Security, boosting the wages of workers, getting assault weapons off our streets, and securing healthcare as a human right, CPC members are fighting for positive change for our communities, and I look forward to joining them.

House party by house party |
Thank you to everyone who came out to our recent house parties in Fayetteville! Not only have we reignited the movement, we're growing it. In homes across the district, we're spreading our message and building the infrastructure it will take to flip NY-24 blue. I'm proud to be alongside you in this fight.
We also had a powerful house party in Oswego Town earlier this month, where we discussed how we're going to flip this seat blue.
On election night in 2018, John Katko said, "I really hope she doesn't want to run again in two years, because she's tough."
As much as I hate to disappoint the man, not only am I running again, but I'm coming for him. And come January 2021, I'll be sworn in as NY-24's first Congresswoman.

'Tis the Season! |
The Cicero Democrats are ready as ever to flip NY-24 blue, and I'm proud to fight alongside them to do just that. I had a wonderful time talking about our campaign to put government and power in the hands of the people where they belong.
I had a blast celebrating the holidays with Onondaga County Democratic Committee! As we ring in the new year, I'm excited for everything 2020 holds for Democrats in Onondaga County and all across central and western New York.
I also had a great time at the Oswego County Labor Holiday Party! The challenges we face are immense, but I know that 2020 is going to be a strong year for labor in Oswego. In solidarity, always. Happy holidays!

A Winter Extravaganza |
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our end-of-year party!
The photobooth, or Balter in the Booth as my staff tells me I'm required to call it, was a definite highlight!
