In case you missed it, we recently got word that Kevin McCarthy’s super PAC -- the Congressional Leadership Fund -- is funneling yet another $1 million into IL-17 to bolster Eric’s opponent in the final month of this race.
It’s clear that the GOP’s corporate donors now represent their best (and only) hope at gaining an edge here. To no one’s surprise, this million-dollar investment is going directly toward disgusting and deceitful TV attacks against Eric.
There’s no doubt this is a desperate move by the GOP, but here’s the predicament we now face: The more TV ads this super PAC buys, the more expensive it becomes for us to buy airtime of our own – there’s just less inventory available to place our ads.
We’ve worked too hard to let a dark-money super PAC determine the outcome of this race. Residents of IL-17 know Eric is the homegrown candidate that intimately knows the issues they face. And they know he’s the only candidate with a long history of delivering the truth to people in this region.
But we have to ensure that every undecided voter knows the GOP’s attacks against Eric are misleading and in bad faith.
