Today is World Teachers' Day – a day dedicated to honoring our teachers who are making vital contributions to the education and development of our students. I couldn't let this day pass without taking the opportunity to thank all of the outstanding educators across the state.
Teachers serve not only as instructional leaders but as role models and critical support systems for students during the most formative years of their lives and make sure our children receive the education they deserve. And in the wake of the pandemic, the impact our teachers have on our children, our communities, and our economy has never been more clear.
I am honored to have the support of the National Education Association and the Wisconsin Education Association Council as we take on Bryan Steil this November.
I have always been committed to strengthening our education system so every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. When I get to Congress, I will be a voice for teachers – to continue fighting to make sure that our educators have the support and resources they need so they can focus on what matters most: teaching.
So today, let's celebrate our teachers together and take the next steps together to support them. Our teachers are the backbone of our education system, providing a safe and welcoming environment for our children to learn.
And to our teachers: Thank you for constantly going above and beyond for our students, and for stepping up in ways big and small to help keep our students feeling loved and cared for by their school community.
