The new Supreme Court term started this week. It isn’t good:
WASHINGTON POST: "You thought the Supreme Court’s last term was bad? Brace
yourself."
FIVETHIRTYEIGHT: "The Supreme Court is on the verge of killing the Voting
Rights Act."
With a 6-3 conservative majority on the Court, we must make sure President
Biden can fill any vacancies that arise without Mitch McConnell and Senate
Republicans blocking his nominations.
To do so, Democrats MUST keep control of the Senate in November. What we
do today and in the next 5 weeks until election day will be critical for
the future composition of the Court.

President Biden a path to fill any Supreme Court vacancies unobstructed by
Mitch McConnell.
The Washington Post is also reporting that conservative justices will
continue to move as quickly as they can, knowing their 6-3 majority is a
generational opportunity:
"They’re impatient," Harvard Law School professor Richard Lazarus said of
the conservative justices, especially the longest-serving, Clarence Thomas
and Samuel A. Alito Jr. "They’ve spent a lot of time waiting for this
majority to happen, and they don’t plan to waste it."
In their upcoming case docket, the conservative justices have taken up
cases experts believe they will use to:
* Gut the environmental protections of the Clean Water Act.
* Eliminate the right for labor unions to strike.
* Allow businesses to legally discriminate against LGBTQ+ individuals.
* Give Republican-controlled state legislatures unchecked power to
overturn election results in 2024 battleground states.
* Eliminate affirmative action in higher education.
By taking action right now, we can help Senate Democrats protect and
expand their majority and be in a position to confirm new liberal justices
to the Court in 2023 and beyond.
