It is a reminder of the importance of looking inwards and setting intentions.
John,
Tonight is Yom Kippur. It's the Day of Atonement considered to be the holiest day of the year in Judaism, and is traditionally observed with a day-long fast, prayer, and synagogue services. It's based in reflection, self-examination, and atonement.
Yom Kippur isn't exactly a "happy" holiday, but it is a reminder of the importance of looking inwards and setting intentions. It's a reminder to me, too, that right now — regardless of whether or not we choose to observe Yom Kippur — self-reflection is needed now more than ever for us to forge ahead in shaping a brighter future.
To those observing Yom Kippur this week, I hope you have an easy fast.
Peace and love,
Jamaal Bowman
