John,
As thousands of brave Iranian people, led by courageous Iranian women, are taking to the streets to challenge their government’s authoritarian policies, it is imperative the U.S. takes concrete steps to stand in solidarity with them.
For years, we led the charge to support internet freedom for Iran, and finally, helped get the Biden Administration to publish General License D-2 to loosen internet sanctions so Iranians can access new tools to challenge state censorship and repression.
Now, we’re calling on the House and Senate to pass new, bipartisan legislation that condemns the killing of Mahsa (Jhina) Amini and target sanctions on human rights abusers.
Take Action: Urge your Senators and Representative to support and pass this resolution. >> [[link removed]]
Why do we support this legislation?
1.
It
commends
the
bravery
of
the
Iranian
people
and
rightfully
condemns
the
egregious
human
rights
abuses
that
we
are
witnessing.
2.
It
calls
for
targeted
human
rights
sanctions
against
officials
responsible
for
the
crackdown,
not
broad
sanctions
that
hurt
the
very
people
demonstrating
for
a
brighter
future.
3.
It
encourages
the
administration
to
prioritize
expanding
internet
access
in
Iran
so
that
the
Iranian
people
can
continue
to
make
their
voices
heard.
We need Congress to act swiftly and pass this resolution now. Take action today to send a message [[link removed]] to your legislators or call them directly [[link removed]] !
