MEMO: An Update on the State of the Race for U.S. Senate in Connecticut   October 4th, 2022 MEMO: State of the Race FROM: Christopher Velazco, Campaign Manager for Leora Levy for U.S. Senate Career politician Dick Blumenthal is running scared because Connecticut voters are ready for a real, meaningful change in leadership. This Senate race is about a choice between failures of the past and a new promise for the future. Throughout this campaign, Leora has consistently proven that she is a fighter who is unwilling to compromise her values in exchange for the approval of so-called insiders and elites. The contrast with Dick could not be more stark and it is why Leora Levy is going to be the next United States Senator for Connecticut. Here is an update on the state of the race: Independents, Democrats, and Republicans are Backing Levy for Senate As a first-time candidate for federal office, the people of Connecticut recognize that Leora’s campaign represents the opportunity to finally turn the page and move on from an era dominated by self-serving elected officials who have little interest in those they are actually responsible for serving. From corner to corner of our state and everywhere in between, Leora is constantly approached by people who thank her for running and appreciate her clear common-sense message that is centered on making life affordable again, securing our southern border, stopping the flood of fentanyl into our communities, fighting rising crime, and supporting parents and their children against ruthless indoctrination tactics and other strong-arm government efforts to take over control of our children. Support for Leora cuts across party lines – we have heard countless testimonials from Independents, unaffiliated voters, and even those who have previously voted for Democrats about how they can no longer support politicians who have made a career of doing nothing and are responsible for the current trajectory of our country. Think about it… Dick has been in office for 37 years. How many people can honestly say they are better off now than when he first went on government payroll? Even when he was Attorney General, Dick was notorious for killing small businesses and driving companies out of Connecticut with wasteful lawsuits and thereby killing jobs and hurting our economy. It is sad, but true, that Connecticut is one of the only states that has still not fully recovered from the jobs lost during the 2008 recession when Blumenthal was attorney general. After a lifetime in public office, Connecticut is unaffordable for many families and our post-pandemic economic recovery is lagging behind most states. That is Dick’s legacy. Both in the numbers and on the ground, the enthusiasm gap is palpable. Even polls that are so absurdly incorrect - and have people believing they are an intentional effort to depress the Republican vote - demonstrate this fact. In 2020, Republicans turned out at a rate 5 points better than Democrats. In 2018, that gap was only 4 points. The most recent public polling shows Republicans with a 10 point advantage, double what we saw in 2020. With Leora on the ballot, that trend is set to not only continue, but to intensify. Dick’s failure to represent the people of Connecticut is no secret and is now well reflected in his approval rating that has sunk below 50%. At the same time, polling has consistently shown Leora winning independent voters, who are the largest voting bloc in Connecticut. Throw in the fact that well more than half of Connecticut voters identify inflation as the number one issue this election, and you’ll understand why Dick felt the need to spend more than $1 million during an uncontested primary. Veterans have not and will never forget the disgrace that is Dishonest Dick’s stolen valor. Connecticut veterans literally turned their backs on him at a recent event. You probably haven’t seen or heard about it from his lackeys in the media, but people are finally making their voices heard. In this kind of an environment, when you’ve been in office for 37 years and are most well-known for lying about serving in Vietnam, you know retirement is on the horizon. Ultimately, Dick is the most vulnerable he has ever been due to the environment he helped create. Serving as Biden’s loyal enabler in the Senate and voting for his failed, radical agenda 98.1% of the time, Dick is directly responsible for the problems are country is currently battling and in November he has to answer to the people he swore to represent. Dick is Running Scared – Refusing to Mention Leora by Name and Begging Outside Groups to Fight His Losing Battle Everyone knows the most dangerous space in Connecticut is between Dick Blumenthal and a camera. Hopefully next time, the person on the other side of that camera will have the courage to ask what he is afraid of and why he refuses to mention Leora’s name. Internal numbers confirm everything we are seeing on the ground. Momentum is on our side and outside organizations are seeing it just as clearly in their data. The people of Connecticut have had enough of Dick – his votes, his lies, and the direction of our economy. They’ve certainly had enough of being forced to deal with the harsh reality of skyrocketing food prices, electricity, rent, gas, and home heating oil for which he is responsible. Maybe that is why a Chuck Schumer-financed Super PAC just spent hundreds of thousands of $$$ attacking Leora. From our momentum on the ground, it is no surprise Democrat leadership is rushing to bailout Dick the only way Democrats know how, by throwing money at the problem. Unfortunately for Dick, when voters know you’re responsible for raising taxes on middle-class families during a recession and 40-year high inflation rates, money is not the solution to your problems. Leora is fighting against reckless spending and wants to ensure small businesses and families can afford to live their versions of the American Dream – the same dream that Dick is bankrupting every time he rubberstamps Biden’s disastrous economic agenda. Leading Party Voices are Backing Leora’s Campaign with Recent Stops in Connecticut from Party Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and NRSC Chairman Rick Scott. Realizing the once-in-a-generation opportunity that exists in Connecticut this cycle, many of America’s leading political voices have endorsed Leora for U.S. Senate and are amplifying her message on the campaign trail. Voters from all backgrounds are energized because they know that the change they are demanding is right around the corner. In absolute contrast with her stale opponent, Leora’s firecracker energy is attracting attention from big party names and they are coming to reinforce her message and her campaign against the poster-boy for career politicians. Recently, Senator Rick Scott traveled to Connecticut to campaign with Leora and GOP Party Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel visited New Britain’s Community Outreach Center for a campaign stop that highlighted Connecticut’s most promising races with Hispanic voters. Addressing the crowd, Leora spoke about Hispanics flocking to support Republicans because of our shared values - values like faith, family, education, and the opportunity to work hard and create a better life for ourselves and the next generation. Out-of-touch Democrats have abandoned these values and in large part, it is why Blumenthal’s approval rating is sinking. Why We Will Win This Race & Defeat Career Politician Dick Blumenthal Connecticut is in dire need of significant change, but that is only possible if we present voters with a clear choice in November. Leora knows Connecticut is worth fighting for and is making her case to voters, because now is the time to end the Biden-Blumenthal blight. The tide is turning and voters know the truth about Dick Blumenthal. His record is one of failure, lies, narcissism, and, sadly, punctuated by just how little he has done for the people of Connecticut. In fact, Connecticut families are worse off now than when he first was sworn into public office more than a generation ago. Leora is the true political outsider fighting for change, Connecticut knows it and the country will know it on November 8th.   About Leora I am running to take on the far-left whose policies will make our country look more like the Communist Cuba my family and I escaped in 1960 than the United States we have all known and loved. I am running for Senate to lead the fight for freedom. Joe Biden isn't on the ballot in November, but his policies are. The way to beat back Biden is to beat Dick Blumenthal, and I am the political outsider who can get it done.
