Hi there,

We have five weeks from today to get Tina Kotek elected as the next governor of Oregon. The stakes could not be higher. Tina is a climate champion, and the only candidate we can count on to stand up to corporate polluters. Will you join OLCV in helping elect Tina Kotek and ensuring Oregon will continue moving forward on addressing the climate crisis? [[link removed]]

While Tina has a record holding oil and gas companies accountable, her opponents instead have been holding hands (figuratively speaking) with the fossil fuel industry. Betsy Johnson and Christine Drazan continue to take big campaign contributions from corporate polluters and it’s clear why – they have both been siding with the fossil fuel industry for years. We can’t risk either of them becoming governor and taking us backward on climate action.

We know what’s at stake. We know it’s not going to be easy. You may have seen some of the news coverage. The race for Oregon governor is a dead heat between Tina Kotek and Christine Drazan. Political analysts have categorized this race as a “toss up.” A coin flip between Oregon’s governor being a climate champion or a pro-polluter, extreme Republican? That’s scary.

Except, this election won’t be decided on chance. It will be decided by Oregon voters – like you, your neighbors, and your friends and family. The most effective way to persuade a voter is a one-on-one conversation. It’s also fun to connect with neighbors and fellow Oregon voters, and talk about what’s at stake in this election. Will you join the fun?

If you live in Portland, Eugene, or Bend, please join OLCV in canvassing (knocking on doors to talk with voters) for Tina Kotek this Saturday, October 8th, at 10am! Sign up using this link, which is for organizational staff, but also the right form for you (put OLCV where it asks for your organization). If you don’t live in Portland, Eugene, or Bend, you can sign up for phone banking, which is held virtually over Zoom every Thursday from 12-2pm and 6-8pm. [[link removed]]

OLCV’s organizing team is working hard every single day and we really need your help to win. If you can’t make it to a canvass this weekend or a phone bank on Thursday, there’s more ways you can join in. Sign up with OLCV here and one of our amazing organizers will check in with you on ways you can help. [[link removed]]

Voting starts in just over two weeks when ballots will be mailed out. Between now and Election Day, it’s people like you that will make the difference.

Thank you for all you do,

Lindsey Scholten
Deputy Director, OLCV
