John,
When one Senator from West Virginia can nearly bring the government to a halt in order to fast-track a pipeline, something isn’t right.
Our movement fought hard and stopped Manchin’s dirty side deal from getting into the government spending bill, but the threat was real – and this status quo can’t continue.
We know that climate legislation is possible, but only if we have the right people in office. It’s clear that we must grow our Democratic majority and elect more climate champions up and down the ballot.
That’s why we’re excited to re-launch our Climate Vote Project to mobilize hundreds of thousands of climate voters before the midterm elections.
Back in 2020, we recruited hundreds of volunteers to make sure voters in states impacted by climate chaos and voter suppression were signed up to vote-by-mail. From North Carolina to Georgia, we sent thousands of phone calls and texts where we talked one-on-one with voters.
It was through this work, together with so many of our movement allies, that we were able to elect Joe Biden and win a majority in the House and Senate. It’s what allowed us to pass the most historic climate legislation to date – the Inflation Reduction Act – that will decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and create up to 9 million jobs in clean energy, clean manufacturing, and green transportation.
Now we need to go further to elect more leaders who will take the climate crisis seriously and take on the fossil fuel industry in Washington.
From climate action to abortion rights to housing and health care access, our communities deserve representatives who will address the issues of our time head on.
As a volunteer with the Climate Vote Project, you’ll be able to choose what kind of voter contact fits best with your schedule and preferences. You’ll have the option to make calls, send texts, knock doors, write postcards, and more.
Let’s do this.
