Hi John,

Many of you have asked how you can watch my debate with Mike Crapo, the Republican incumbent who has held this Senate seat for the last 24 years – so I’m here with an update.

We recorded our debate yesterday at the PBS studios in Boise. The full 90 minutes will air tonight on Idaho Public Television, but you can watch it right now on YouTube here.

It was a spirited debate where we talked about the challenges facing our state and our nation today, and what Mike Crapo has done about those issues over the nearly quarter of a century he’s served in the United States Senate.

An animated gif of a video clip from a debate held between Idaho Senate candidates, in which David Roth confronts incumbent Senator Mike Crapo for his support of the Trump tax cuts and the negative impact they had on the economy and inflation today.

I was also asked why I’m running for Senate when I’ve never held public office before now, and the answer is simple.

We need people in the Senate with real world experience, who understand the pain and struggles that ordinary people are facing, and who will fight for the working families of our country – not just look out for their big money donors.

I’m a single dad of two amazing boys. I’m a nonprofit leader and longtime community organizer. I’m also openly gay. I know firsthand the challenges everyday Idahoans live with, and I’m ready to fight for them in the U.S. Senate seat.

We have one month to make our case to all the voters of Idaho, and I need to restock my campaign materials to make sure my team has all the resources we need to get out the vote. Can you pitch in $100, $50, or whatever you can spare to help me flip this U.S. Senate seat?

I am truly grateful to have had the opportunity to share my vision for an Idaho that works for working families with the people in my community.

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate David Roth, a member of the LGBTQ community, debates with incumbent Republican Sen. Mike Crapo, center, and independent challenger Scott Cleveland during Idaho Public Television’s debate, Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, in Boise.

Idaho has not had a Democratic senator in my lifetime. But we can change that in November, and make history by electing the first openly gay man to the United States Senate as well.

I’m not giving up on Idaho, and I hope you won’t either. Pitch in now to help me flip this Senate seat.

Let’s win this.

- David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running to flip a U.S. Senate seat in Idaho. His opponent is an extremist “pro-life” Republican who’s been in politics for 37 years. David stepped up to serve the state that has been his home most of his life, where he is now raising his two young sons, because every state is worth fighting for. There has never been an openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate. Help us make history this year. Pitch in now to flip this seat and send David to D.C.
