According to a live focus group conducted before and after the debate, he persuaded nearly all undecided voters to get behind his campaign to fix the grid, protect our rights, and end Greg Abbott’s seven years of extremism.

Here are some of the key quotes of the debate:
“This election is about reproductive freedom.” Greg Abbott has banned ALL abortions in Texas, with no exceptions for rape, incest, or health. He doubled-down on his extremist ban, while Beto laid out a plan to protect our freedom.
“If it’s an emergency, call a special session now.” Greg Abbott says that school safety is an emergency - but has no plan to fix it. Beto called him out for doing NOTHING to address school shootings since the preventable tragedy in Uvalde.
“Warned before February 2021 that we had problems in the grid, [Abbott] did nothing.” HUNDREDS of Texans froze to death during the 2021 winter storm. Abbott had YEARS to fix the grid as governor, but instead of taking action, let his millionaire and billionaire donors delay action until it was too late.
“I’ll keep your lights on, make sure to keep your kids safe [and] reduce property taxes, and we’ll prioritize the lives of each and every single Texan in the state.”
