Dear friend,

In 2019, our involvement in court cases has resulted in victories for advancing the rights of women and girls. We are proud of our wins this year:

In R v Jarvis ([link removed]) , ([link removed]) our involvement resulted in the recognition of voyeurism as a violation of sexual integrity

In R v Barton ([link removed]) , we partnered with the Institute for Advancement of Aboriginal Women (IAAW) ([link removed]) .

Our involvement resulted in the court providing clear and conclusive direction on consent, including recognition that expressed consent to every sexual activity is necessary

In the case of theChristian Medical and Dental Society of Canada v College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario ([link removed]) , our involvement resulted in the Court specifically referencing LEAF's arguments that equal access to reproductive healthcare is essential for women's equality

With these equality gains for women and girls across Canada, we have much to celebrate. However, this success requires commitment, sustained action, and resources.
