The migrant transportation situation, explained.
John,
In recent weeks, stories of governors from states on the U.S. southern border transporting migrants by bus or plane to other states has dominated the news.
But why are they doing so and what should our elected officials be doing instead to find solutions to our border?
Watch this video where Danilo Zak, the Forum’s
Assistant Vice President of Policy & Advocacy, explains the migrant busing situation. Then, when you’re done watching it, share the video with your networks on social media.
Seeking asylum is a human and legal right. Accordingly, asylum seekers should be treated with respect, not as pawns in a political stunt.
The urgent need for border solutions has never been clearer. Democrats and Republicans in Congress need to come together to make much-needed fixes to our immigration system, including addressing border security and management.
We know there are orderly, humane, and smart solutions to achieve this. It’s time for our elected officials to act.
Thank you for all you do to advocate on behalf of migrants seeking
safety,
Becka Wall Vice President of Digital Communications National Immigration Forum
