Hope your September went well! We at Momentum Education have been busy and are excited to share our progress.
Firstly, we formalized our partnership with Aldine ISD to provide near-peer mentorship and enrichment services to students in two of their high schools. Our enrichment services include feedback on college application essays, connections to scholarships and summer programs, and career conversations with various professionals. We are excited to support Aldine ISD students in their journey to and through post-secondary education.
Secondly, we welcomed Belen Cosme, our new High School Program Manager, to our team. She is profiled in our Team Member of the Month section below, and we look forward to her serving our students.
Thirdly, we are focused on ensuring every single student receives the individualized support they need. While this, of course, includes mentorship, it also includes wraparound services. This month, a local health clinic notified us that they were looking for interns. We shared this opportunity with our students, and one of our college students already secured an internship! This level of personal support is the hallmark of Momentum Education, and we will maintain this level of service as we continue to serve more and more students.
Finally, we are now providing monthly mentorship and enrichment services (including essay and resume feedback, connections to scholarships and summer programs, and exposure to various careers) to 485 students.

David Vargas is a Houstonian and is attending Avalos P-Tech Early College High School. He wants to major in Health Science or Psychology to become a Physical Therapist. David stated that "being a part of the Momentum Education mentorship program has really helped me in major ways, and it is so easy to open up to my mentor. It has been a really great experience!" Thank you, David, students like you are the reason we do this!

Danna Rodriguez

Danna Rodriguez is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Mathematical Biology, and her goal is to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Recently, Danna said that "Momentum Education helped me with my college essays and decide on which career path I wanted to pursue. Now as a mentor I hope to help my mentees the same way I was helped throughout high school." Thank you, Danna, we are so excited to have you as a part of our team and watch you grow!

We are excited to recognize Belen Cosme as our Team Member of the Month! Belen joined Momentum Education this past month. Prior to working at Momentum, Belen helped support over 500 low-income, first-generation seniors by guiding them through the college admissions, scholarship, and financial aid processes. Belen supported students in various capacities for five years and is excited to contribute her experience to our Leadership Academy high school mentees. Belen shared that "Momentum Education's mission is deeply personal to me, so I am excited to provide the highest level of support to our students to help them be successful as they go through high school and transition into college." Thank you, Belen, for being a part of our team; we are excited to see what we can accomplish together!
