Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
As I begin another busy week in Texas, I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:
A victory for veterans and military families:
I am thrilled to inform y'all that my bipartisan, bicameral Supporting Families of the Fallen Act (S. 2794) passed the House of Representatives last week in a unanimous vote! It now heads to President Biden's desk to be signed into law.
This legislation will support military and veterans' families across the country by increasing their maximum life insurance coverage amount options. This commonsense, bipartisan legislation will help give thousands of military and veterans' families across the country peace of mind.
You can watch my message after the vote by clicking here.
I also spoke to my House colleagues before the vote to encourage them to support this legislation.
You can watch my full speech before the vote by clicking here.
Standing up for America:
Last week I sent a letter to my House Republican colleagues breaking down examples of the terrible agencies, programs, and policies Democrats' continuing resolution continues to fund.
I urged all my colleagues to vote no on this bill.
I also headed to the House floor to speak out against the bill before the vote. Republicans should stand up for America and say not one more penny for any of the Biden administration's destructive policies.
You can watch my full floor speech by clicking here.
Demanding transparency from DOJ:
On Tuesday, my good friend Montana Senator Steve Daines and I sent a letter to DOJ demanding answers for the FBI’s raid of a pro-life advocate's home. Reports indicate that the FBI raided the home of activist Mark Houck using an “excessive level of force,” in front of his seven children.
This appears to be extraordinary overreach on the FBI's part and the American people deserve transparency from DOJ.
You can read our full letter by clicking here.
Fighting for a secure border:
On Friday, I joined Fox's Varney & Co to discuss what Congress can do to stop the border crisis and cartels' war on American communities. 72,000 Americans have died from fentanyl poisonings in the last year - that number should be zero.
Congress should demand that DHS and ICE carry out their mission to secure the border, and withhold their funding until they do it.
You can watch my full Fox interview by clicking here.
Monitoring a new highway expansion project:
Back in Texas, my team joined the Texas Department of Transportation for an open house announcing details for the Highway 281 expansion project in Blanco county.
My team will continue to monitor proposed projects to ensure the community’s concerns are heard by TxDOT, state, and local officials.
Here are some news stories about what I’ve been up to lately:
Interested in being nominated to a military academy?

Want to help serve the 21st District?
Students and young adults interested in learning more about how Congress works and serving the constituents of the 21st Congressional district are invited to apply for a congressional internship with my San Antonio district office.

Create your own app!

Passport resources
The State Department is encouraging passport applications and renewals during the off-peak travel season in fall or winter because demand is lower and processing is faster. Please remember to check your passport expiration date and keep in mind some countries require your passport to be valid for six months after your visit. You can find information on how to apply or renew your passport here.

The US Department of Agriculture offers several resources available to farmers and ranchers impacted by the recent wildfires and drought in Texas. We encourage you to take advantage of this federal assistance if eligible.
