Protecting our Community and Supporting Local Officers
Congresswoman Manning proudly voted to pass a package of public safety bills through the U.S. House of Representatives. Watch below.
“All of us deserve to live in safe communities with properly trained police officers, including those who live in our smaller communities. That’s why I was proud to support this package, which will provide grant opportunities to help local police departments in North Carolina’s Sixth District to obtain the equipment and training they need to de-escalate difficult situations, implement violence intervention programs and mental health services, and improve recruitment and retention of good officers,” said Congresswoman Kathy Manning (NC-06).
This package included the Invest to Protect Act of 2022, which will make the following local police departments eligible to receive federal funding to recruit, retain, and train officers:
- Kernersville Police Department
- Gibsonville Police Department
- Archdale Police Department
- Piedmont Triad International (PTI) Airport Police Department
U.S. House of Representatives Passes Manning’s Securing Global Telecommunications Act
Congresswoman Manning, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, passed her bill, the Securing Global Telecommunications Act through the U.S. House of Representatives with bipartisan support.
“Our country’s strategic international competitors, Russia and China, are working to dominate tech and telecom around the globe by setting industry standards to favor their industries. This poses serious risks to our national security,” said Congresswoman Kathy Manning. “My bipartisan bill will help combat China and Russia’s attempts to gain an unfair advantage over telecom infrastructure, preserve our global leadership in tech, keep our companies competitive, and protect the safety and integrity of the networks we rely on every day."

Presidential Election Reform Act
Congresswoman Manning voted to pass the Presidential Election Reform Act through the U.S. House of Representatives.
On January 6th, 2021, following the attack on our nation's Capitol by insurrectionists, 147 members of Congress voted to decertify election results, despite there being no indication of wide-spread voter fraud. In an effort to strengthen our democracy and stand up against attacks on our elections, the House voted to pass the Presidential Election Reform Act with bipartisan support.
The Presidential Election Reform Act will reform the Electoral Count Act to ensure that Congress counts the votes as required by the Constitution, including by ensuring that Congress receives a single accurate electoral certificate from each state, requiring that States select electors in accordance with state law existing as of the date of the election, and providing a federal judicial remedy in the event that a state governor refuses to certify the lawful result of a presidential election. The reforms do not benefit either political party.

Cindy Axne (IA-03) to express concern that restrictions on reproductive health care and abortion bans will deter health care providers from working in states with these restrictions, particularly in rural areas that already lack access to care.
