Friend, we are creating the roadmap away from a throwaway economy built on the exploitation of fossil-fuels.
Still, we must continue acting at this scale every year and show the world what’s possible before our window of time runs out at the end of this decade.
Because our work isn’t done. Although the Legislature passed three other priority climate bills dealing with air quality and transportation, the Governor vetoed them.
It’s not just in the hands of the Governor and state legislators, friend. Californians have the opportunity at the ballot box this fall to vote for climate directly.
Prop 30, the only statewide climate ballot measure, will boost our transition to clean, zero-emission vehicles and increase extreme wildfire prevention and resilience. While not a replacement for legislative action, Prop 30 is something we can do in a state where vehicle emissions have caused some of the most toxic air in the world.
All in all, everyone here at EnviroVoters is ecstatic over this unprecedented, landmark year on climate legislation in California. Our efforts helped increase the state’s climate budget by 46%!
And we’re counting on you to help us keep the pressure on state leaders to continue this momentum.
Thank you for being on this team. We’re so glad to have you.
