John, I’m always grateful in the first few days of a new month. Let me tell you why.
My team in the first week of a new month will let me know just how much we raised, how many folks chipped in, and how many actions folks took.
Thousands of folks were with us, doing what they could to help, and for that I want to say THANK YOU. I’m so incredibly grateful.
We are now in our most critical month of the year as an electoral political action committee.
This is the time when we can provide the MOST support to the endorsed candidates as they get out the vote in their communities and win these races.
And, John, while I am so thankful — I do want to be honest with you.
We missed out on our goal by a mere $327.50.
And while we were able to raise so much thanks to your support, and will be able to provide tremendous support to our DAs so they can win their races and transform the system to hold police accountable, end mass incarceration and free innocent people — there’ll be $327.50 worth of resources we won’t be able to give.
I only share this to show you how dependent we are on this people-powered movement to help us hit our fundraising gaps. We don’t have back ups. No wealthy billionaires ready with their checkbooks to help close the gap, no matter the size.
That’s why those emails, especially around deadlines, are so important.
Later this month, especially with how many races we are involved in and the budget gap we are going into October with, we’ll be reaching out to help fill those fundraising holes.
But for now, I just want to reiterate how thankful I am to have you in this movement with us. From making a $50, $15, or $5 donation to taking action with us by making calls, signing petitions, and sharing our posts on social media, it all makes a BIG difference.
We would not be able to be where we are today, providing key support for a whopping 9 DA candidates who have elections in a little more than one month, without you.
Love and appreciate you,
Shaun
