John,

We recently wrote you regarding bills that were on California Governor Newsom's table, and the New York Times has an update on what he signed here.

Victories!

Making it easier for organized farm workers to vote in union elections
Better paid-family leave for low income workers
State IDs for everyone, regardless of immigration status

And more

But there were also losses too.

Vetoes:

Supervised drug sites helping battle drug use
Severely limiting the use of solitary confinement
Mandatory kindergarten

John - California is a state where we shouldn’t have to worry about conservative concerns. Victories should be celebrated and they are being celebrated! But we need Governor Newsom to be bolder.

California is the world’s 5th largest economy. State legislators need to override these vetoes and send a message to the world.

In solidarity,

Downballot Progress
