More than 200 years ago, the Founding Fathers stood up to unjust treatment by their rulers, pledging their lives, their wealth, and their honor in pursuit of independence, and the rights and liberties that came with it. With this Declaration, and the Constitution that was ratified in the years that followed, a country that was based on freedom, liberty, and equality was promised. And in the decades since, generation after generation has fought to see that promise come to fruition.
Today, our country faces a litany of challenges. Increased polarization and the normalization of political extremism pull at the seams of our nation. White Supremacy hangs over our politics like a black cloud. Immigrants and minorities continue to be used as scapegoats for the country’s problems. And American Muslims continue to face Islamophobia, racism, and bigotry in their own country.
The promise of America remains unfulfilled.
This year’s convention is about one thing: the need for our community to stand up and do our part as Americans in pursuit of a more perfect union. Join us as we bring together community leaders, policy experts, and elected officials for an event of celebration, reflection, and solidarity.
