We are being attacked—from within—by corporatist interests and dark money; by those who aren’t committed to what we, the people, need. They operate in the shadows because they aren’t brave enough to fight in the open. But they are consolidating power this election unless we stop them. And we’re being lied to. Special interests are perverting the framework our forefathers built with their corporatist cash. Where has that led us? Extremist justices on the Supreme Court. Continued support for election deniers in Congress. Failed leadership on both sides of the aisle. Failure after failure—legislation that doesn’t come close to addressing our systemic issues; lack of political courage to support even the most popular legislation if special interests say no; misaligned priorities that favor the few over the rest of us. Enough is enough. We find ourselves on the cusp of a new revolution…One where we must demand that our leaders fight for us, not for the billionaires that got them elected. Will you join me in a new revolution to take back our power? We cannot allow the tyranny of a few to override the desires of the majority. And the best I can give to my country today is to fight for what I and most Americans believe in. Montesquieu wrote in his 1748 Spirit of Laws, when once a Republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil. So I’m formally pledging to take back our democracy. Giving all of us a say is why I ran for Congress last year and it’s why I’m seriously considering mounting another run. We need to elect people who are going to speak truth to power. But I cannot launch this new revolution alone.
