| Friend, Corporate America is aiding and abetting the insurrectionists who are threatening our democracy. After the attack on our Capitol on January 6, 2021, many major corporations pledged to suspend donations to the 147 GOP members of Congress who objected to the certification of the 2020 presidential election and helped fuel the Big Lie. Those same corporations -- including American Express, Toyota, Walgreens, UPS, Lockheed Martin, Home Depot, and AT&T -- have since abandoned their pledges and resumed donations to insurrectionist Republicans and the committees supporting them. In fact, corporate donors have given more than $16 million to these election deniers since January 6.(1)
Trump and MAGA Republicans continue to threaten our democracy by supporting racist voter suppression laws and spreading disinformation and outright lies to the American public about our election systems. And Corporate America is bankrolling these attacks on our freedoms. We can't let corporations get away with pledging to help preserve our democracy while privately funding the people who are working to destroy it. They can’t hedge their bets when it comes to defending democracy -- you’re either against the insurrectionists or you’re with them. And right now, these corporations are on their side. Thank you for everything you’re doing to save our democracy.
