Save the Children Action Network is the political voice for kids.

Over 9 million children are food insecure in the United States alone. Globally, 1 in 5 kids under 5 show signs of stunting – which means they’re consistently getting too little to eat.  Tell Congress: hungry kids and families are in urgent need of support.

Hi Friend,

Last week was a big week in the fight against child hunger.

We celebrated a successful Advocacy Summit, the first White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health in more than 50 years and the anniversary of the 1977 Food Stamp Act!

Known today as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), this landmark legislation nourishes children across the U.S. But in 96% of counties, SNAP benefits still don’t cover the cost of an average meal.

That’s part of the reason why over 200 advocates lobbied on Capitol Hill earlier this month, Friend: to tell lawmakers that hunger is putting kids’ futures at risk – and show them how critical the Farm Bill is in fighting this global crisis.

Now, we need your voice. Send a message to Congress: we must make bigger investments in child nutrition – starting with the next Farm Bill.

Just last week, the White House hosted a conference to discuss strategies for finally ending hunger in the U.S., like improving food access and affordability, empowering families to make healthy choices and enhancing nutrition research.

Friend, many of the provisions included in the White House’s National Strategy can be accomplished through the Farm Bill. If we hope to protect children’s futures – not just here at home, but around the world – we need to strengthen hunger-fighting programs in its renewal.

Urge Congress to prioritize kids’ health in the next Farm Bill by expanding SNAP benefits and strengthening international food aid to help families build resilience!

Thanks for being a voice for kids,
