John, We’re currently in the middle of Hispanic Heritage Month, a time in which we pay tribute to Hispanic Americans that have forged the identity of this country and contribute to our communities, culture, and achievements.
Together, we celebrate the hard work, innovation, justice and equality, and the many contributions of the Hispanic community to our district, state, and nation. New Mexico is the highest per-capita Hispanic state in the country, and we are the better for it. Since the last U.S. Census numbers were released, we saw tremendous growth in Hispanic populations across New Mexico's 2nd District, particularly in the southeast. Hispanic populations will continue to grow and enrich our communities with economic growth, culture, traditions, language, and more. NM-02, a majority Hispanic district, is home to hard-working families that are demanding change, and I’m ready to deliver for them. That's why I'll fight to ensure that Hispanic workers, and in particular, Hispanic women, are paid equally for doing the same job. I'll fight to ensure that our families have access to affordable child care, housing, high-quality healthcare, and good-paying jobs. When we lift up our Hispanic communities, we lift up the entire district.
