Climate Justice

This month’s Climate Justice newsletter focuses on Puerto Rico as the island deals with the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona. First, NPQ’s Senior Climate Justice Editor, Iris Crawford, focuses on Power 4 Puerto Rico, a national coalition of the Puerto Rican Diaspora pushing for the island’s full self-determination. We then revisit how the island’s colonial status has influenced its recovery from Hurricane Maria in a feature by NPQ’s Editor in Chief, Cyndi Suarez. Next, NPQ’s Steve Dubb looks at the emergence of popular assemblies that have been working towards a better future for the island. Lastly, an NPQ webinar, “Remaking the Economic System in Puerto Rico: A Case Study,” lifts up the voices of leading Puerto Rican practitioner-experts.
