IRC REPUBLICAN PARTY CHAIRMAN Jay Kramer The REC at its September 14th meeting voted to invest money to target early voters and help local Republican candidates win their elections. Pictured below are both sides of the 2022 Republican Voter Guide designed and mailed at the same time that the vote by mail ballots were sent by the IRC Supervisor of Elections on Friday September 30th. The Voter Guide and the VBM ballots should arrive in households together. Look for yours in the mail! FYI: The decisions on which candidates appear on the 2022 Republican Voter Guide were made in accordance with RPOF Rules that prohibit the REC from picking one Republican over another. ELEPHANT EARS By Jeff Mosesso Precinct Committeeman Pct 25 September 24-25, 2022, Fairgrounds Gun Show REC and Florida Victory Tables This was a slooooow show. Both days. Productivity down considerably from previous shows. Returning to HQ many table items that would have before been taken by attendees. When you can look from the back of the show and see all the way to the front entrance which is normally blocked by row upon row of attendees… it is a sloooow show. Interactions were way down compared to June’s show. Sunday’s show was a little more active than Saturday with more info cards and brochures taken by attendees. Some possible reasons for a low turnout for a show weekend that should have drawn many more attendees for us to interact with and inform: · The Biden economy/so-called “inflation reduction” plan is showing its true colors and folks just don’t have the money to spend. · The track of expected Hurricane Ian shifted people’s attention from the gun show to Walmart, Publix, and Lowe’s for needed supplies. · The Elks Lodge and other organizations are now hosting gun shows, creating competition. · And just maybe, law-abiding people don't want their gun show purchases tracked by credit card companies to create a prohibited-by law, Democrat-championed, ATF-operated National Firearm Registry. Not complainin’ or blamin’ the low turnout for low table productivity, just sayin’. More about this in Future Actions below. Volunteers working the tables: REC –Carol Smykowski, Chris and Rick Allen, Harry and Barbara Anne Oehler, Lamarre Notargiacomo, Barb DeFrino, Jan Mooney and Jeff Mosesso. Florida Victory – Ryan Butler, Fran and Tom Murphy, Richie Star, Shawn Jordan, Skip Broomel, Doug Broomel, and Kathy and Mike Carlin. Kudos to FV for having new wallet cards with the slate of endorsed candidates for voters to have handy at the voting booths. Kudos to Paul Westcott across the aisle for his efforts to garner votes by putting in the time needed to be successful seeking Hospital District Seat 4. Hat Tip to REC members stopping by to say Hello: Ray Mello, Judy Harrington, Carol Maxwell, Joann Binford, John Ubbink. REC Volunteers passed out brochures for our candidates and information on committees and clubs provided by Republican HQ to those who stopped by the table. One enthusiastic young lady took some of everything for her activities – she’ll be at one of our REC meetings in the near future, I’ll bet. American flags and Constitution booklets were also given out and were well-received by both kids and their parents. Florida Victory did well – sales of DeSantis 2022 merchandise were good, and they obtained three voter registrations. Two Guest Cards were issued to attendees interested in our REC October meeting. Best “T” shirt messages seen at the show: Winner – “The Constitution Does Not Have to Be Rewritten. It Has to Be RE-READ!” Runner up – “It Is DONKEYPOX That Is Destroying America.” Honorable mention – “If You Cannot Stand Behind Our Troops, Then Please Stand IN FRONT Of Them.” Best magnet message: “I REFUSE To Discuss Gun Control with People Who Are CONFUSED By Bathrooms.” Encouraging Comments from Attendees: I asked attendees as they walked the aisle in front of our table if they were going to vote. The overwhelming responses were “YES!” “You Bet.” “I wish it was tomorrow.” Many were given wallet cards with the slate of REC-endorsed candidates just for good measure. A man passed by the table, and I asked if he was registered and ready to vote. “Yes, and yes.” I passed him a wallet card with the candidates’ names for his voting trip and he stated, “Don’t worry, I am voting for All of Them!” Once again, parents get Special Acknowledgement for raising their children as Americans: A dad, a veteran, stopped by with his young son who was given an American flag. Dad got the booklet and in response to my comment that his son is not getting this info in school, he noted “Don’t worry, he’s being brought up Right.” “And when he’s bad, I call him a Democrat.” A dad and his two kids walked by the REC table. I asked Dad if it was OK to give the kids an American flag. He said “yes," and they were given out to them. I told Dad that the US Constitution book was also for the kids and stated that they were not getting this information in schools. His immediate response was, “Yes They Are, We Homeschool!” And then he waved his hand across the gun show saying, “And class is in session right now.” What a Statement! Dads Rule! Future Actions: 1. The next Gun Show is November 5th & 6th, however, I do not plan on reserving a table for REC items. I believe we have passed the point of diminishing returns for our money and time spent there as all attendees coming to the gun shows have either previously registered to vote, are from other counties, or care not to register. I believe also that most attendees there have passed beyond considering candidates for each office and have made up their minds on who they will vote for. There may be some potential new registrants that come to the show, but it is not cost or time effective for us to have a table when we have HQ available for those so motivated. So, that being stated and accepted, this weekend’s gun show, and Elephant Ears will be the last for 2022. We can start up again to register voters, collect information from new folks who want to volunteer time and/or become REC and Clubs members, and pass out candidate and voter info for 2024 if the members so desire. I’ll keep all posted on future shows. Until Then: Get Out the Vote Activities! 2. Focus on the newly released “Commitments to America”! Show all Voters Our Credible Plan to Stop the Nonsense, to swing their votes to our side. 3. Emphasize the stark contrasts between Republicans vs. the Socialists. Republican Party: Upholding our Traditional American Values and Founding Principles for All People Socialist Party: Ideology and actions promoting Big, oppressive government at the expense of our Freedoms and Rights while protecting their Favored classes of People. 4. Highlight Democrat Party and Biden Administration Failures. There are many – List Them! Counter with the Republican Commitment and Agenda to Recover. 5. Ask the fence-sitter/still undecided Voter to get them thinking and motivated to Get Out and Vote Republican: “Are you better off now than you were two years ago?” “If No, Do You Know Why?” “Do you want your Freedoms back yet?” “Will you help us restore them?” “Do you know that we have a plan to fix the Mess left by Biden/Harris/Pelosi/Schumer?” 6. Post-Election Actions: Rather than sit on our Posteriors in-between elections waiting for something to do, let us agree to be engaged for the benefit of our Posterity with local and state political activities. In keeping with the objectives, missions and defining characteristics of the REC, RPOF and RNC, we should commit for 2023 and beyond to: · Promote An Informed Electorate Through Political Education. · Foster Loyalty To the Republican Party. · Increase Republican Registrations. · Seek And Encourage Qualified Republican Candidates for Local, County, State and Federal Offices. · Work to elect Floridians with Integrity. · Promote The Principles Upon Which Our Nation and Our State Were Founded: Freedom, Liberty, Personal Responsibility, And Accountability. · Fight For Our Proven Agenda and Take Our Message to Every American. “The Republican Party's legacy… compels us to patriotically defend America's values.” Florida is setting an unapologetic pro-freedom, pro-parental rights, child-focused example in education for other states to follow. "Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny." ~Thomas Jefferson~ RPOF CHAIRMAN JOE GRUTERS' MESSAGE Donate to the Florida Disaster Fund To contribute, please visit www.FloridaDisasterFund.org or text DISASTER to 20222. FLORIDA RESPONSE TO HURRICANE IAN CONTINUES Governor DeSantis is, first and foremost, focused on the recovery efforts for communities affected by Hurricane Ian. He is dedicated to helping communities recover and rebuild from the impacts of the hurricane and is working with local, state and federal officials to support Floridians who are in need. The Governor has been issuing updates on Hurricane Ian every day along with Division of Emergency Management Director Kevin Guthrie, First Lady Casey DeSantis, CFO Jimmy Patronis and numerous federal, state and local emergency management officials. There are currently 42,000 linemen responding to the more than 1.9 million reported power outages. They have already restored power to more than 700,000 accounts in Southwest Florida. First Lady Casey DeSantis also announced that donations have poured into the Florida Disaster Fund, surpassing $10 million in just the first 24 hours of being activated. The Florida Disaster Fund is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to provide financial assistance to our communities as they respond to and recover from times of emergency or disaster. In partnership with public, private, and other non-governmental organizations, the Florida Disaster Fund supports response and recovery activities. ATTORNEY GENERAL MOODY EXPANDS PRICE GOUGING HOTLINE STATEWIDE Attorney General Ashley Moody has expanded Florida’s Price Gouging Hotline statewide. All Floridians can now report instances of severe price increases on essential commodities to the Attorney General's Office. Florida’s price gouging law only applies to commodities and services essential to preparing for, or recovering from, a storm during a declared state of emergency. CONSUMER ALERT: BEWARE OF HURRICANE IAN CHARITY SCAMS Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis warns individuals and businesses looking to contribute to Hurricane Ian relief efforts to be cautious of imposter GoFundMe style crowdfunding websites and charity scams and encourages Floridians to donate to the Florida Disaster Fund. To contribute, please visit www.FloridaDisasterFund.org or text DISASTER to 20222. Tips to avoid charity scams from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC): Don’t let anyone rush you into making a donation. That’s something scammers do. Some scammers try to trick you into paying them by thanking you for a donation that you never made. Scammers can change caller ID to make a call look like it’s from a local area code. If someone wants donations in cash, by gift card, or by wiring money, don’t do it. That’s how scammers ask you to pay. To be safer, pay by credit card or check. It’s a good practice to keep a record of all donations. And review your statements closely to make sure you’re only charged the amount you agreed to donate – and that you’re not signed up to make a recurring donation. Before clicking on a link to donate online, make sure you know who is receiving your donation. Read Donating Through Crowdfunding, Social Media, and Fundraising Platforms for more information. GOVERNOR RON DESANTIS Flags at Half-Staff in Honor of Florida Official Peter Antonacci Peter Antonacci passed away on September 23, 2022, at the age of 74. Pete epitomized public service. Most recently, he served as the Director of Florida’s newly created Office of Election Crimes and Security. Throughout his career he served in numerous leadership roles in state government. To name a few, he was Chief Judge of the Division of Administrative Hearings, Statewide Prosecutor, Deputy Attorney General, CEO of Enterprise Florida, State Attorney for the Fifteenth Circuit, General Counsel to Governor Rick Scott, and Executive Director of the South Florida Water Management District. It goes without saying that Pete was the consummate public servant and will be remembered for his dedicated service to our state and the notable legacy he left behind. To honor the memory of Peter Antonacci and his service to our state, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the Miami-Dade County Courthouse in Miami, Florida, the City Hall of Hialeah, Florida, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, from sunrise to sunset on Monday, October 3, 2022. Governor: "Don't Even Think about Looting!" Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued a stern warning to would-be criminals thinking about taking advantage of the chaos left by Hurricane Ian: "Don't even think about looting." Hurricane Ian obliterated areas of southwest Florida this week – leaving a trail of death and destruction. The current death toll is at least 77 people, but that number may rise as search-and-rescue teams access areas that have been isolated from the devastating effects of the Category 4 hurricane. Hurricane Ian made landfall near the island of Cayo Costa with winds of 155 mph – just 2 mph short of a Category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. The monster storm reduced the coastal areas to rubbish and tossed yachts like toys. However, some Floridians have used the dire situation to loot businesses. On Friday, the Lee County Sheriff's Office posted photos on social media of five individuals being arrested for looting. "Sheriff Carmine Marceno means business and has taken a zero- tolerance stance on looting. We are patrolling and you will be arrested if you partake in criminal activity," the sheriff's office declared in a Facebook post. DeSantis delivered an unflinching warning to anyone contemplating looting in the aftermath of the apocalyptic hurricane. "They boarded up all the businesses, and there are people that wrote on their plywood, ‘you loot, we shoot,'" DeSantis said during a press conference near Fort Myers in southwest Florida. "At the end of the day, we are not going to allow lawlessness to take advantage of this situation. We are a law-and-order state, and this is a law-and-order community, so do not think that you’re going to go take advantage of people who've suffered misfortune." Later in the day, DeSantis doubled down on his law-and-order tone during a press conference in St. Augustine. "The other thing we’re concerned about, particularly in those areas that were really hard hit, is we want to make sure we’re maintaining law and order," DeSantis said. "Don’t even think about looting. Don’t even think about taking advantage of people in this vulnerable situation." "I can tell you, in the state of Florida, you never know what may be lurking behind somebody’s home,” DeSantis said. “I would not want to chance that if I were you, given that we're a Second Amendment state." DeSantis campaign's rapid response director Christina Pushaw shared photos of signs in front of homes in Lee County that read: "Try to loot, I will eat your face," and "Loot here, die here." Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody reiterated that looting would not be tolerated. "Florida will not tolerate looters taking advantage of Hurricane Ian to prey on vulnerable Floridians," Moody wrote on Twitter. "They will be arrested, and I have asked state attorneys to seek the longest pretrial detention possible to keep them locked up so they cannot commit new crimes." Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno warned, "Don’t do it in this county. Don't make that mistake. Because one thing we do have is vacancy at the jail. And I guarantee you if you try to prey on one of our great residents, you will find yourself in that jail." Lee County Manager Roger Dejarlais proclaimed, "To be sure, and I feel safe relaying this in on behalf of law enforcement, there's going to be a zero-tolerance policy for looting and violence in this town." The badly battered Lee County announced a 6 p.m. curfew until further notice. New Campaign Ad Governor Ron DeSantis’ re-election campaign announced the latest television and digital advertisement supporting Governor DeSantis being aired by the Republican Party of Florida entitled “Honor, Courage, Commitment.” The 30-second ad is running statewide and features retired Navy Captain Dan Bean of Jacksonville, who served side-by-side with Governor DeSantis during his service in the U.S. Navy and shares how the Governor’s service instilled principles that guide him today. Governor’s Former Navy Commanding Officer: DeSantis is Guided by Honor, Courage, and Commitment - Ron DeSantis for Governor Governor Breaks Record in Gubernatorial Fundraising Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political operation reported raising $177.4 million through Sept. 9, breaking the gubernatorial fundraising record without adjusting for inflation, a new OpenSecrets analysis of state campaign finance filings found. His reelection campaign has raised over $31.4 million since January 2021, and Friends of Ron DeSantis, his state-level PAC that is not subject to contribution limits, raked in $146 million since January 2019.
