Dear AFSA Member,
Happy National Principals Month! Throughout this October, school principals will be recognized for all of the incredible work they do to serve our nation’s students and families. Here at AFSA, we will use this month as an opportunity to raise the voice of school leaders across the country.
While the beginning of a new school year will always present challenges, those facing principals in this 2022–2023 school year are unique. School leaders still are recovering from combating the COVID-19 pandemic, and are dealing with staff and principal shortages along with burnout and other issues related to principal wellness. As part of National Principals Month, a national policy briefing related to those topics will be hosted by AFSA in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals and the National Association of Elementary School Principals in Washington, D.C., at the AFL-CIO headquarters on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 10:30 a.m.–noon ET. This briefing will be livestreamed so you can attend virtually. More information on how to watch the briefing online will be shared soon.
AFSA and its partners will be holding a number of events and activities throughout October in recognition of National Principals Month, so stay on the lookout for more exciting opportunities to participate.
