We cleared one hurdle, but we've still got a lot of work to do.

Season's Greetings Indivisibles,

On December 18th, 2019, we impeached Donald Trump!

If you’re reading this, you probably know exactly where you were and what you were doing when Nancy Pelosi tapped her gavel after the final vote. Were you making a final call to your Member of Congress? Were you glued to CSPAN? Maybe, like us, you were planning your next action to convince the Senate that they, too, have a constitutional oath they'll need to uphold soon. Whatever you were doing, we've got some solid next steps for you now that Trump has been impeached and is awaiting a Senate confirmation trial (see to-do's below).

Wooh. Ok, now that we’ve gotten that out of our systems, there are a few other things we’ve gotta mention before we get more into how we’re going to remove him from office. First on that list, his replacement!

We’re happy to announce the results of our latest pre-debate survey, which we sent out last Monday -- the first survey since we released our first ever Indivisible Presidential Scorecard. If you haven’t seen the scorecard, you can check it out right here (after you do your weekly to-dos!).

And now! Drumroll please….

Elizabeth Warren remains the number one candidate for Indivisibles across the country.

The December pre-debate survey showed that Indivisibles have continued to identify Senator Warren as their first-choice candidate in the Democratic primary, continuing months of her topping our survey rankings. Nearly 40% of respondents picked her as their first choice to be the nominee, with Senator Sanders a distant second.

Finally, it’s becoming increasingly clear that progressive candidates are not only growing their support, but solidifying it as well. Senators Warren and Sanders have the highest percentages of supporters who consider themselves “locked in,” while support for other candidates remains less than secure.

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

 Your 5 weekly to-dos

  1. Call your Senator and demand a fair and open impeachment trial. Donald Trump was impeached last week. But despite the overwhelming evidence that Trump abused his authority, violated the law, and repeatedly tried to obstruct justice, Republicans are promising a rigged impeachment trial in the Senate. In fact, just before the vote, McConnell assured America that he “will not be an impartial juror". Call your Senators and demand they uphold their oath to defend the Constitution and hold a fair and open impeachment trial. The foundation of American democracy is at stake.
  2. Check out impeachnow.org to register or find an event near you. If you’re looking for impeachment-related activities to keep the pressure up over the holiday break, you can go to our partner site impeachnow.org to RSVP or to register events and town halls with your senators and demand they vote for a fair trial and reject McConnell’s rigged rules..
  3. Text IMPEACH to 977-79 to get the latest updates action items on Indivisible’s Senate strategy. We impeached Donald Trump! But will still need Indivisibles engaged in this fight to have any hope at removing him from office. To get our most rapid response content, and the most up to date info and calls to action, opt in to our Impeachment Fighters text group and we’ll make sure you have all the information you’ll need to keep the pressure up.
  4. Donate to support 36 frontline freshman House Dems who were elected in the Blue Wave & voted to impeach Donald Trump. These 36 freshman Dems are fighting for democracy, and we’ve gotta have their backs. We’ve set up a fund for these frontliners and 100% of what you donate is split evenly between them. Give the gift of true democracy by sharing this link & donate if you can!
  5. Register for the National Activist Call on Jan 9 at 8 PM ET. Make sure to join us for an exclusive debrief of the impeachment fight, where we are, and our next steps to make sure Donald Trump is not only impeached, but removed from office.

 Support our Senate impeachment strategy

After last Wednesday’s House vote it’s official -- the impeachment fight is headed to the Senate. We’ve got a lot of work to do before the trial begins in a few weeks, and we need your help.

Senate Republicans have already shown their hand: they’re going all in to shield their president from the consequences of breaking the law. Mitch McConnell himself vowed to be in “total coordination” with the White House. With the impeachment trial starting in just a few weeks, we need to respond now. We’re making calls, running ads, and updating our resources to make sure Indivisibles can have the biggest impact possible. But none of that could happen without your support.

Can you make a $10 donation right now to support our Senate impeachment strategy and fund all of Indivisible’s crucial work in the new year?
