*Governor Whitmer Continues to Fix the Damn Roads with Projects Starting This Week in Berrien, Isabella, and Macomb Counties *
"In 2022, Gov. Whitmer is making the largest investment in state roads and bridges in Michigan’s history"
*LANSING, Mich. -- *Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that multiple infrastructure projects are slated to begin this week. The projects include M-63 concrete repair and patching in Berrien County, repairs on the Vernon Road overpass at US-127 in Isabella County, and the next phase of work to rebuild M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) in Macomb County.
“Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to save drivers time and money. These investments in Berrien, Isabella, and Macomb counties will help Michiganders get to work, run errands, and explore our beautiful state safely,” said *Governor Whitmer*. “Since I took office through the end of 2022, we will have invested 70% more in our roads than the previous four years to fix over 16,000 lane miles of road and 1,200 bridges, supporting nearly 89,000 jobs. Both my Rebuilding Michigan Plan and the bipartisan Building Michigan Together Plan are helping us build safe, reliable infrastructure that makes a difference for families and small business across the state. I’m proud of what we have accomplished, so let’s roll up our sleeves and keep getting things done."
*M-63 in Berrien County *
In Berrien County, work will begin on Monday, October 3 on an investment of $484,000 to repair concrete on two miles of M-63 from Higman Park Road to Enterprise Way [ [link removed] ] in Benton Township. Work includes full-depth concrete pavement repairs, concrete curb and gutter repairs, and pavement markings.

In Isabella County, work will begin on Monday, October 3 on an investment of $267,000 in concrete beam repairs at the Vernon Road overpass at US-127 [ [link removed] ] to address damages following a high-load hit in June.

US-127 will have single-lane closures during work. Vernon Road will remain closed and detoured via Rosebush Road until all repairs are complete.

This work will repair beam damage sustained during the high-load hit.
*M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) in Macomb County *
In Macomb County, starting Tuesday, October 4 through Sunday, October 16, detours will be in place at Masonic Boulevard at M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) [ [link removed] ] as road crews work to finish rebuilding the intersection. Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to support 826 jobs.
This work is part of the second year of the two-year project to rebuild three miles of M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) between 11 Mile and 14 Mile roads in the city of Roseville. The project is expected to be completed by late fall. For more information, go to MovingMacomb.org [ [link removed] ].

*Rebuilding Michigan’s Roads and Bridges *
By the end of 2022, Governor Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist will have fixed, repaired, or replaced more than 16,000 lane miles of road and 1,200 bridges, supporting more than 89,000 jobs without raising taxes by a dime. These and future repairs are made possible by the Rebuilding Michigan plan [ [link removed] ], a five-year, $3.5 billion investment in our highways and bridges, and the bipartisan Building Michigan Together Plan [ [link removed] ], the largest one-time investment in Michigan's infrastructure in state history. These strategic investments in Michigan's infrastructure ensure that future Michiganders will have safer roads and bridges to run errands, travel, and strengthen the economy.

Governor Whitmer and Lt. Governor Gilchrist’s fourth balanced and bipartisan budget [ [link removed] ] expands on the investments in the bipartisan Building Michigan Together Plan signed in April by speeding up replacement of lead service lines, reducing traffic congestion at local rail crossings, improving state fish hatcheries, and funding long-overdue maintenance projects at state facilities.
