The election is just over a month away, and there's still much work to be done.

"When they go low, we go high" - Michele Obama

Here we go -- Instead of running a positive campaign based on his legislative record, Greg Lavelle has fired the first shot of what looks to be a negative smear campaign.
There is a reason that negative campaigning is so rare in Delaware. People here don't want to become like Washington, D.C. We don't want our communities to devolve into partisan mudslinging.
But make no mistake: this is Greg Lavelle's calling card. In the Senate and on the campaign trail - from government shutdowns to hit piece mailers - he is doing his best to bring D.C. style politics to Delaware.
Here we go again: When establishment Republicans can't beat you, they go back to the old tried and true tactic of lying and fearmongering over tax hikes.
I refuse to get down in the mud with him. You all deserve better than that. Instead, I will stand strong and continue to campaign in a way that will make my supporters and constituents proud - you should expect no less of your elected officials. Like Michele Obama said, "When they go low, we go high."
Instead, let's send Mr. Lavelle a strong message. Let's show him that Delaware won't be dragged down by smear tactics and attack ads. Let's show him that his negative campaigning doesn't represent us or our district. Let's show him that we are better than this.
We are just $3,000 short of our fundraising goal for the month of September. October starts on Monday. Can you help us hit our target in time by chipping in $50 this weekend? ([link removed])
As an aside: I know it has been a tough week for all of us. Amidst the infuriating, emotionally draining hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee, I'm reluctant to even share this added bit of upsetting news. Please remember to take time to look after your own mental and emotional well-being over the next few weeks. Reach out to friends and loved ones for support if you need it. I myself have needed to take a few breaks during this long campaign and I want you to know that your mental health matters more to me than this campaign or any other political endeavor.
I look forward to a day when we can measure our progress against weeks like this one. Together, I believe we will get there much sooner than men like Mitch McConnell, Brett Kavanaugh, and Greg Lavelle could possibly imagine.
