As a daughter of immigrants, Dr. Caraveo grew up learning that hard work and caring for others are the very values that build strong communities and family. Going to medical school and then later becoming a pediatrician, she saw too many families falling through the cracks, struggling with job opportunities, health care costs, child care and paying rent.
So she ran to become a state legislator and gained a reputation for taking on tough fights and working across the aisle to get things done.
Dr. Caraveo has a history of legislative success that includes passing legislation that lowered the cost of prescription medicine, drastically limited the toxic pollution that endangers our kid’s health and planet, and expanded funding for preschool.
