March On: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

Hey Friend,

Our final Latinx leader spotlight for Hispanic Heritage Month is the inspirational Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez!

Since Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez won her primary election against a 10-term incumbent in 2018, she has been one of the strongest voices for progressive change in Congress.

Upon her election, Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest woman ever to serve in Congress, as well as the first woman of color to represent her district of NY-14.

Ocasio-Cortez has made headlines for her advocacy on behalf of immigrant families and undocumented Americans, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is also leading the fight for climate justice as an original sponsor of the Green New Deal resolution.

AOC: Ours is a heritage of resilience… from the COVID-19 pandemic to heartless immigration policies, our community faces great challenges. But we’ve overcome adversity before - and we will again.

Prior to her service in Congress, Ocasio-Cortez worked in education and community organizing in her home neighborhood of the Bronx, including as an Educational Director for the National Hispanic Institute.

Friend, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a strong, progressive fighter in Congress – and you can take action right now to help reelect her this fall!

Thank you for celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with us!
