The Jewish community in Alberta – and, by extension, across Canada – received good news last week. On Friday, September 23, 2022, Premier Jason Kenney and Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Tyler Shandro announced the Government of Alberta’s adoption, by an Order-In-Council, of the International Holocaust Remembrance Association’s (IHRA) definition of antisemitism.

By adopting the IHRA working definition of antisemitism – the consensus definition that best reflects lived experience of Jews today – Alberta’s policymakers, law enforcement, and community leaders have been provided with a critical framework to identify, understand, and combat contemporary forms of antisemitism in public life, the media, schools, the workplace, and in the religious sphere.

Please join us in thanking Premier Kenney and Minister Shandro for their leadership on this issue.

Thousands of you recently took action against the outrageous email from federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh that demonizes everyone who identifies with and feels a connection to the Jewish state.

But it hasn’t worked...yet. It just hasn’t been enough...so far. We need to do more.

Your voice has never been more needed than at this moment.

The federal NDP needs to understand this isn’t just CIJA ringing the alarm bell – they need to hear that the alarm is ringing across the country. They need to hear directly from you.

Click here to tell the NDP that policies like those in their letter breed antisemitism everywhere. They put Canadian Jews in danger.

Either the NDP hears our collective voices, or we can no longer treat them as a serious, mainstream political party.
