Jack, the thing about Republicans taking control of Congress or the White House is that it always turns out even worse than you think it will.
Take the January 6 committee. House Republicans are vowing revenge for how the committee has portrayed Trump and others in their party during their hearings. Rather than ending the investigation all together, some Republicans want to use their majority to frame their own narrative of what happened that day—that it was just a bunch of tourists, antifa, or no big deal. Others within the House GOP would rather see the January 6 committee itself investigated.
That all sounds pretty bad, but keep this in mind: if Republicans get control of House committees, it will probably turn out even worse. Remember the Benghazi hearings, for example?
We are fighting to keep Republicans out of power so that they are unable to run any sham investigations that make a mockery of justice and our democracy. Daily Kos is hard at work recruiting volunteers to mobilize every possible Democratic voter to the polls in November. Please donate $5 to Daily Kos today.

It is no secret that Kevin McCarthy, who would likely become Speaker of the House if Republicans gain enough seats, is no fan of the committee. He has boycotted the Jan. 6 committee after Nancy Pelosi blocked two of his selections for the panel, ignoring subpoenas to appear before the committee. It's likely when he takes hold of the gavel, he will do everything in his power to undermine the current committee's investigation.
Republicans are also prepared to impeach President Biden, although they are not sure what for yet. They will get back to us on that one after they take control of the House, I guess.
If we want to protect the future of our democracy, we need to fight to keep Republicans from gaining control of the House and the committee and subpoena power that comes with it. This is why Daily Kos has spent months building one of our most robust Get Out the Vote campaigns ever. We are on track to recruit 75,000 volunteers who will contact millions of voters in key races—races that could be decided by the very voters we mobilize to the polls. This sort of operation isn't easy to run—and it isn't cheap.
Please support our Get Out the Vote work by donating $5 today.
