Friend: I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth – not even close.

I grew up in public homes on the west side of Savannah, Georgia. I had 11 brothers and sisters – and while my family was short on money, we were long on love and faith.

My parents showed me the meaning of hard work – and always told us kids we could do anything we put our minds to. Thanks to their support, I became the first in my family to earn a college degree. Now, thanks to this grassroots team, I'm fighting in the Senate to make sure every child can achieve their American dream.

But I'll be honest: With NPR calling me the most vulnerable Democrat up for reelection, the only way I can keep this seat blue and win our critical fight for justice is with your help. So I’m personally asking, friend: Will you donate $5 or more right now to help me defend my seat, keep the Senate blue, and secure a better, brighter future for Georgia and our country?

Thank you for being a part of this movement. I'm honored to have your support.
