fascists are on the march around the world, exploiting genuine pain of
millions for their own nefarious and hateful ends. Clinging to power,
President Donald Trump remains a corrosive symptom of a global disease.

But with newsrooms across the U.S. and the world gutted due to layoffs
and under threat by hostile corporate interests, fragile democracies are
increasingly ill-equipped to face these challenges.

That's where Common Dreams comes in.

As a nonprofit, independent news source, we answer only to you, our
readers and donors, not profit-seeking vulture capitalists and corporate
advertisers. That's why we haven't seen the bloodbath layoffs that have
affected so many of our competitors. While others are cutting back,
we're growing.
