On Friday, the House passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) package that will continue our extremely high federal spending through mid-December. This bill did not balance the budget nor reign in reckless spending. In other words, Congress just kicked the can down the road, once again.

When President Biden took office, inflation was 1.4 percent. Now, it’s at 40-year highs, weakening the dollar at 8.3 percent compared to just a year ago. As wage growth lags behind soaring inflation, Americans workers are, in effect, receiving pay cuts.

As we endure turbulent economic uncertainty, it’s far past time to stop Washington’s habit of reckless spending, not exacerbate it. I believe we should meticulously inspect where every dollar is going to ensure your tax dollars are not being used for frivolous pet projects or funding activities that go against your beliefs.

Instead, to the detriment of all Americans, Washington once again failed to come to a bipartisan agreement on reining in spending. By continuing to deficit spend and expand our $30 trillion national debt, Americans' savings accounts are dwindling and inflation is through the roof.

As your Representative, I'm committed to restoring fiscal responsibility within our federal government, which is the first key step toward ensuring America thrives for future generations. I took to the House floor to speak out against the dangerous habit of Washington politicians to continuously spend your hard-earned dollars without considering the inevitable monetary consequences we're seeing unfold today.
