I wish I could start your Saturday with some good news, folks, but I have to break the bad news instead: we missed our end-of-quarter FEC goal last night.

Ultimately, this isn’t the situation I wanted to be in this late in the game. We don’t want to be scrambling to fund our campaign operations in the final weeks before Election Day.

I do, however, want to thank you for chipping in to my campaign when we needed your support – and give my team a much-deserved shoutout for all the work they did to get us this far.

We can’t afford to miss a single goal between now and November. Will you contribute $10 today to make sure we get back on track for October?

I’ll speak frankly. Between super PACs, special interest groups, and GOP megadonors, the anti-choice right has a significant fundraising advantage in these midterms. We simply won’t hold our pro-choice Democratic majority without defending blue battleground districts like IL-06.

If we run out of resources, we’ll have to make some hard decisions:

• Pulling our TV and digital ads and ceding the airwaves to the GOP’s attacks
• Cutting back our canvassing efforts, so fewer folks get registered and prepared to vote
• Decreasing our digital reach, which will make it harder to correct the far right’s lies
