Hi Jack,
First things first: Thanks a bunch to everyone who pitched in to help us hit our September fundraising goal. Couldn’t have done it without you!
Second, I wanted to take some time to share a bit of positivity from the campaign with you.
Near the end of last month, I was doing a Zoom call with a college class. I was in my room, and the kids were with my husband working on dinner when the littlest one crept into my room.
We were near the end of class, so I let him sit by me as we wrapped up and did some questions.
Wes’s cute little face was in the corner of our Zoom and while we were finishing up Q&A, I said, “If anybody has any questions for Wes, you know, he’s a first-grader, so you’ve got an expert here.”
Some sweet student in the class asked, “Hey Wes, what’s your favorite movie?”
And Wes shyly said, “The Lion King.”🦁👑
It was really wholesome – and this story makes me tear up every time I tell it.
But it gets better: At the end of the class (as a parting gift), the professor shared his screen and played The Lion King's “Circle of Life.”
His little face, y’all.🥺
The whole class stayed and watched the entire song with Wes, and it was just so dang sweet.
Anyway, that made me feel good about humans, and I wanted to share that story with you.
I was able to catch him win a Citizenship award for respect this morning before leaving on another camping trip. And I am sharing this picture with you, because I can 😉
