I'll start with the bad news, John.

This photo was taken at the moment that Emily, our Finance Director, told me that we missed our end-of-quarter goal by $2,000.

It really came down to the wire, and ultimately, it wasn’t enough to put us over the top. But first – I want to share how grateful I am for my team and to everyone who contributed. You all made it possible for us to get this far.

But yesterday’s goal was one I really couldn’t afford to miss. FiveThirtyEight is forecasting this race as a pure toss-up and Roll Call named me the most vulnerable House Democrat up for re-election.

With all that said, can I count on you to rush $25 or more to help us make up for lost ground and defend our Democratic House majority?

Our campaign will be working overtime this week to fend off the incoming GOP attacks. National Republicans will try to drain our resources and overwhelm us with spending, all on the dime of their dark-money financiers.

But this race is a choice between strengthening our democracy or cheering for its downfall, and we can’t let special interest groups and right-wing super PACs decide for us.
