Late Thursday night, Gov. Gavin Newsom of California signed a bill into law that is a potential threat to any family in every other state.
This hours-old law lets the state of California take custody of children from other states in order to do gender transition procedures – including puberty blockers, sterilizing cross-sex hormones, and irreversible surgeries – all without the parents’ knowledge or consent.
Essentially, it creates a transgender sanctuary that will serve as a magnet for minors whose parents won’t allow them to mutilate their bodies. This new law brings cancel culture right to your front door. Parents are canceled—Gov. Newsom will parent children who are already at risk and send them down a one-way road to “transition.”
The threat is real – and it is nationwide! It cannot be overstated what an unprecedented and radical move this California law is. Reaching across state lines, flouting state sovereignty, trampling parental rights, and performing irreversible procedures on children. Even for California, it’s radical.
Family Policy Alliance is working right now to bolster state laws to protect against this radical threat. And we’re working with allies on Capitol Hill for a federal response – since this is a threat that crosses state lines.

Some liberal states will try to follow California’s lead, making the threat even more accessible for many transgender-minded youth. We need your help to rally public opposition so that politicians in those states see and feel how radical and controversial this is.
Some of our Statesmen Academy graduates in conservative states – along with our allied state organizations – are already working on legislative ideas to shield their state’s children from California’s threat. But that is a big undertaking and will take resources to get it done.
California politicians have taken their swing. Now it’s our turn to bat. Will you stand with us?
