This fall I went to San Diego to train journalists who are facing fierce hurdles to exposing the tragedy at the country's southern border. Officials there have targeted journalists, holding them for screening and even seizing their cell phones, cameras, and laptops. Officials use devices that pull data off reporters' phones.
