Dear
Friend,
I wanted to send a quick note on your vital support for our efforts to secure journalists' rights at border.
This fall I went to San Diego to train journalists who are facing fierce hurdles to exposing the tragedy at the country's southern border. Officials there have targeted journalists, holding them for screening and even seizing their cell phones, cameras, and laptops. Officials use devices that pull data off reporters' phones. As a lawyer and, more importantly, a defender of the freedom to write, I know this is impacting reporters' First Amendment rights...and your right to know the truth.

Truth matters. Facts matter. When journalists cannot do their work, facts and truth suffer.
PEN America fights these free expression violations and defends the written truth.
Your support allows PEN America to train reporters on their constitutional rights. It fuels us to defeat pernicious policy proposals. You can help strengthen journalists’ freedom to write and YOUR freedom to know. ([link removed][UNIQID])

Please consider a gift to support this vital effort. Now, let’s get back to work!
Best,
