Good morning y’all!
This is Rob from Houston DSA. Prior to the Starbucks workers on Shepard and Harold winning their union election(!!), Starbucks fired organizer Jose DeLeon from the store. In response to this, the Starbucks Workers Union (SBWU) is asking for our solidarity TODAY, Saturday, October 1st, as they go on a one day STRIKE against the Unfair Labor Practice of firing Josh for organizing. Can you come support the workers today? They will be there from 6am to 6pm in a picket at their store, 2801 S. Shepherd Dr. 77098
We are asking our members, if able, to commit to a 3 hour shift. This is when we need folks: https://bit.ly/3rk9skO
If you need a carpool, or can give a ride, please fill this out: https://bit.ly/3LW0ILf
You can drop by at whatever time from 6AM-6PM that you are able.
If you have never been to a picket line before, it is fun and important! Check out some pointers from DSA about how to prepare and act on the picket line.
Please consider supporting Josh DeLeon financially if you are able. His GoFundMe is available here.
If you can’t make it today (or even if you can), we are continuing to sign up members to visit the store and deliver magnets and words of encouragement to the Starbucks workers as they await their contract negotiation. As the first store in Houston, it is crucial that they have community support as they await their contract negotiations. Please sign up here.
