Nearly a dozen of the Democratic Presidential candidates support a Green New Deal: Nine Democratic Presidential candidates officially come out in support of a Green New Deal

A Green New Deal represents a historic investment in the development of renewable energy technology, improving energy efficiency, as well as creating more than one million green jobs over the next ten years.

Such an investment, supporters argue, is fundamentally necessary to combat climate change within our lifetimes. And the price tag, they argue, is completely covered by converting fossil fuel subsidies toward subsidizing green energy and jobs.

Before next week’s Presidential debates we want to hear from you: Do you support a Green New Deal?

Each year, the United States spends $650 billion subsidizing the fossil fuel industry -- from helping cover the costs of offshore drilling platforms to tax cuts for billion-dollar multinational corporations.

A Green New Deal would convert those subsidies into research and development of solar, wind, geothermal, hydropower, and more sustainable energy options.

Such a historic investment, these Presidential candidates argue, is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of not addressing the climate crisis. And they argue, it is the only way to achieve zero-net carbon emissions by 2050 (which is required to stave off the “worst case scenario” regarding climate change).

More and more candidates are supporting a Green New Deal and we want to know where you stand.

We’re trying to get 10,000 people to weigh in: Do you support a Green New Deal?

314 Action is a grassroots community of nearly 1 million people working to elect Democratic scientists who will use science and facts to address some of our most pressing issues like climate change and health care. In 2018 we played a pivotal role in flipping the US House of Representatives by electing 9 Democratic scientists to the House and Senate as well as over 100 to key legislative districts while raising over $5.2 million with an average donation of just $27.55. Now we're focused on flipping the US Senate, defeating 25 climate deniers in Congress and flipping key state legislatures across the country.
