This is Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. I don’t want to scare you, but I need to be transparent. Fundraising numbers from the last public reporting period are out, and we were outraised by our Republican opponents, Scott Jensen and Matt Birk.
Even though Jensen and Birk’s priorities are drastically out of step with our values as Minnesotans, it’s become increasingly clear that this is a very, very close race.
Election analysts downgraded my re-election chances three times in a row, and the most recent public polling in our race showed Scott Jensen statistically tied with me (and plenty of “undecided” voters to put him over the top).
Republicans spent nearly $1 million in attack ads against us in September and could spend even more next month. With Minnesotans already casting their ballots, we need to give these next six weeks everything we have to win on November 8.
john, I know this team is up to the task. But we can’t execute our Get Out The Vote plans unless we raise another $6,271 by midnight tonight – our last end-of-quarter deadline of the election. So Tina asked me to reach out to you.
