Friend,
Like any good millennial, I do my share of binge watching when I’m off the clock. And recently, I’ve been rewatching a certain show about hanging on to power and winning at all costs. Maybe it’s the cold weather – winter is here, after all – or maybe I keep watching it because it’s a good escape from what’s happening in the Alabama Republican primary.

Watching Doug’s opponents fight for the upper hand makes for good TV, but terrible politics. (Seriously, one of them just launched an ad that begins with him slinging a chainsaw.) They’re fighting for political power, not for what’s right. They’re trying to be the most extreme one in the field, not worrying about the needs of the people. And they’re dividing Alabama, not bringing us together.

We need Doug Jones in the Senate.

I love watching fictional power struggles. But when it comes to my elected officials, I want people who care more about bringing people together and getting things done than seizing power for themselves – and leaders who lead instead of falling in line with extremists.

If you’re with me, please chip in what you can to help re-elect Doug Jones. [[link removed]] I’m proud to call him my boss, and while he might not be able to ride a dragon, there’s nobody I trust more to stand up to the people who put themselves over us.

Thank you,
Cara Schumann
