Greetings,

We hope you had a great week. Our office wishes a happy Jewish New Year to all who celebrated Rosh Hashanah earlier this week!

Congressman Kim had a full week in Washington, including votes and introducing legislation to support EMS first responders and combat the opioid epidemic. As always, we hope you find the following updates and resources helpful.

Congressman Kim Introduces Support Our First Responders Act

This week, Congressman Kim introduced legislation to support our emergency medical service workers and first responders.

The Support for Our First Responders Act would provide grant funding opportunities to EMS agencies across the country. Our first responders are on the frontlines of protecting the health and safety of people in our communities and they deserve the resources they need to operate safely and with ease.

Congressman Kim Attends the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health

On Wednesday, Congressman Kim attended the White House Hunger Conference to advocate for ending food insecurity at home and abroad.

Our district has more than 56,000 residents facing food insecurity. The collaborative work among public and private stakeholders from the conference will shape the way we combat hunger in our district and beyond.

Congressman Kim Honors Gold Star Families

Sunday marked Gold Star Mother’s and Family’s Day. Congressman Kim reflected on the sacrifice and service of fallen servicemembers’ loved ones.

In July, the House passed the Congressman’s bipartisan Gold Star Mothers Family Monument Extension Act to extend the authorization for the establishment of a monument in honor of Gold Star families. We hope the Senate will pass the legislation soon and help share our gratitude for our Gold Star families.

Congressman Kim Votes to Pass Fairness for 9/11 Families Act

This week, Congressman Kim helped pass the Fairness for 9/11 Families Act to provide thousands access to relief funds they have been unfairly excluded from.

The legislation will allow more 9/11 victims to access the US Victims of State Sponsored Terrorism Fund that was established in 2015.
