Dear Texan,

I wanted to take a moment to update you on my work in Congress and TX-31.

ON THE DOCKET:

  • Demanding Yelp End Unfair Attacks on Pregnancy Resource Centers
  • Promoting Career and Technical Education
  • Voting No on the Spending Bill

THE BRIEF:

  • According to the Congressional Budget Office, Biden’s plan to cancel student loan debt will cost roughly $400 billion.
  • Inflation has outpaced workers’ wages for 17 months in a row.
  • Under the Biden Administration, 1.35 million illegal immigrants have settled in the United States.

DEMANDING YELP END UNFAIR ATTACKS ON PREGNANCY RESOURCE CENTERS

Big tech continues to push the Left’s agenda and is unfairly attacking Pregnancy Resource Centers online. Congressman Jim Banks and I led our colleagues in sending a letter to Yelp, calling on the online review platform to remove unfair consumer notices on Pregnancy Resource Centers’ (PRC) pages and to stop preventing PRC accounts from updating their services. Yelp has proven they would rather advance the Left’s radical pro-abortion agenda than provide accurate information to mothers in need.

PROMOTING CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION

I met with the Association of General Contractors to discuss the importance of expanding access and funding to career and technical education (CTE) programs. As one of the biggest proponents of CTE in the House, I know that these programs can open doors for students to well-paying careers, while strengthening our workforce. That is why I am sponsoring the More Choice for Career Training Act, which would expand eligibility of Pell grants to students pursuing CTE programs. Every student deserves the opportunity to chase their dreams, and this bill will help them in that pursuit.

Congressman Carter meets with the Association of General Contractors to discuss the importance of funding career technical education programs.

I want to Hear From You!

VOTING NO ON SPENDING BILL

This week, the House voted on H.R. 6833, a short-term continuing resolution bill that would fund the government until December. I could not vote in favor of this bill in good faith because I do not believe this CR addresses the many crises our nation currently faces.

As always, thank you for taking the time to stay updated on what's happening in Texas' 31st congressional district. Follow my Facebook and Twitter accounts for more updates.

It is an honor and privilege to represent you and Texas in the United States House.

Sincerely,
John R. Carter
