Notes from Mike's Desk for September 26th — 30th

Hello, friends. Welcome back to my newsletter highlighting what’s happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana’s 4th Congressional District. Thank you for subscribing and please consider recommending this resource to a friend.

IN THE HOUSE

Last week, the House Republican Conference rolled out our Commitment to America—our plan of action for the next two years in the United States House of Representatives to deliver:

✓ An Economy that’s Strong
✓ A Nation that’s Safe
✓ A Future that’s Built on Freedom
✓ A Government that’s Accountable

Republicans are united in this mission to deliver results for the American people. We took to the House steps this week to discuss taking this message to the American people leading into the November midterms!

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

There’s a clear choice in this upcoming election “between those who would regard and protect the sanctity of every human life and those who have no regard for it at all.”

I joined the Family Research Council’s Washington Watch this week hosted by my old friend, FRC President Tony Perkins, to contrast our Republican vision for America with the Democratic platform. I hope you’ll give it a listen:

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

I and two of my House Judiciary Committee colleagues, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, and Rep. Darrell Issa of California, presented evidence this week that the FBI is retaliating against whistleblowers for speaking to Congress.

In our public letter, we wrote: “During the course of this investigation, we have received protected whistleblower disclosures that the FBI is engaging in a ‘purge’ of employees with conservative views by revoking their security clearances and indefinitely suspending these employees.” The letter calls for FBI leaders to preserve records and to appear for interviews before Congress.

We will not relent in our efforts to hold the Department of Justice accountable. You can read the full letter here:

LAGNIAPPE

We wanted to take a moment this week to offer our prayers for everyone affected by Hurricane Ian.

I’ve been talking to my House colleagues and friends in Florida to assure them we are all praying for everyone affected. We know the drill well here in Louisiana, and Louisianians stand ready to assist.

God bless the people of the Sunshine State.

Thank you again for subscribing and reading. We’ll have more next week!

For freedom,
